Spring 2026

We are very happy to announce that the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages will once again be making professional development funds available this year through the Yamada Language Center. These funds are intended to be used exclusively to support Teaching Professor faculty/Career Track Instructors for a variety of professional development and curriculum innovation purposes, such as:

  • research projects

  • course materials

  • pedagogical workshops

  • conference participation

  • technology used for teaching or research

  • books

  • authentic materials

  • and other uses that support your teaching or professional development

Please note that the amount Teaching Professors in the school will be eligible for has been increased to $700 per academic year.

You can apply by filling out a brief questionnaire describing:

1) what you are proposing,
2) how the funds will benefit you and/or your students in the teaching of language/culture, and
3) an itemized list of proposed purchases and associated costs, along with a total request

A committee at YLC will review applications and will fund as many proposals as possible provided that they clearly support your pedagogy, student learning, instruction and/or research.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year and reviewed once each term (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Applications will be accepted for review until end of week 4 and notification given by the end of week 5.

The deadline to submit an application to be approved this term is:

Sunday Apr 26, 2026
